California Female Inmates "Coerced" Into Sterilizations

Female inmates sterilized in California prisons without approval

"As soon as he found out that I had five kids, he suggested that I look into getting it done. The closer I got to my due date, the more he talked about it," said Christina Cordero, 34, who spent two years in prison for auto theft. "He made me feel like a bad mother if I didn't do it."
It doesn't seem that anyone was actually forced. Apparently the power of persuasion is just more than these women's weak little female brains can handle. Is that the line we're taking? Just making sure, because that's not me talking, that's just what I infer from the article. Because I get pressured to do things all the time and I don't have anyone lobbying to protect me. Telemarketers, salesmen, business associates, charities; I constantly find myself having to say "no" against pressure and persuasion. I don't know how I've survived this long.

All other issues aside, is it possible to make a convincing objective argument that society would be better off if these women were still reproducing?
